Explored a few new spring fed streams today with my Alaskan friend Ross Novak. One stream was a winner with good numbers of brown trout feeding and though not easy fish, we managed to hook four and land 3. saw the biggest eel of my life at around 5 to 6 feet long which meant I stayed high up on the bank well away from the water though everyone tells me they are harmless - still hideous disgusting creatures!

Thats really cute. I cam remember when you were 2 and a bit and caught your first eel up at Taupo Bay and would not let anyone take it from you - even had to have the jolly wriggly thing by your camp stretcher!!!!!!!!!!!!! - and there are witnesses to this event don’t forget!

Tell Ross hi for me. This is Gary Colburn from Washington HS class of ‘77. Haven’t seen him in 30 years. Ask him if he ever has time for chess. gwcolburn@msn.com
